Ireland, 2022

11th International Prader-Willi Syndrome Conference

Limerick, Ireland, 6-10 July 2022

In 2022 we held our 11th international conference, in partnership with our local hosts Prader-Willi Syndrome Association Ireland (PWSAI). The conference took place from 6 to 10 July at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

519 delegates attended the conference (197 Irish delegates and 322 international delegates). We were delighted to welcome delegates from 38 different countries.

The conference was made up of six programmes, including the Children’s Programme and the Stepping Up Adults Symposium (or SUAS meaning “up” in Irish!), plus the abstracts gallery, social events, exhibitors as well as numerous opportunities to network.

We were delighted to welcome 138 unique presenters across 64 conference sessions.

The conference was supported by 20 Sponsors and Charitable Contributors.

We also held our General Assembly and elected our new Board.

A real highlight for us was having our Honorary President Jean Phillips-Martinsson with us all week. Jean’s passionate speech to the Gala Dinner reminded everyone why we were all there and the importance of continuing our work to share information and knowledge about PWS around the world.

Thanks also to Friends of IPWSO for supporting ten delegates from various backgrounds and countries to attend. To those delegates – we hope you all enjoyed your time and that the information you gained will be useful to others back home too.

We made some special films at conference to highlight a few key areas of research and expertise that families are interested in. These films will be released later in the year, so keep an eye on our newsletters and website for the details. Do keep sharing your own photos and videos from conference too, tag us on social media!
