United Kingdom (UK): Do I need a visa?
Attendees travelling to the UK may require a visa depending on their nationality.
Most participants will apply for a:
Standard Visitor visa (business / academic visit)
This visa typically allows you to:
- Attend a conference
- Present research
- Participate in academic or professional discussions

When should I apply?
You can usually submit a UK Standard Visitor visa application up to:
3 months before your date of travel
For a conference starting 14 June 2027, applications are expected to open from approximately mid‑March 2027.
Start preparing early (important)
Although you cannot submit your application before this 3‑month window opens, we strongly recommend that you:
- Begin preparing your documents well in advance (e.g. from January–February 2027 or earlier)
- Ensure you are ready to apply as soon as the application window opens
Preparing early is important because:
- Gathering documents can take time
- Some applicants need letters from employers or institutions
- Appointment availability may be limited in some locations
- Being ready to apply immediately in March can significantly reduce delays.
Processing times
Typical processing times are:
- Around 3 weeks in many countries
- 6–12 weeks or longer in some cases
Delays may occur due to:
- High demand for visa appointments
- Additional administrative checks
- Local processing capacity
Documents you may need
While requirements vary, applicants are commonly asked to provide:
- A valid passport
- Proof of funds to support your visit
- Travel and accommodation details
- Employment or study confirmation
- A conference invitation letter

Conference invitation letters

Invitation letters issued after abstract decisions (from 19 February 2027)
Registered attendees:
Letters available once you have registered
Early supporting letters (recommended):
If you expect to require a visa, we can provide a letter confirming your abstract submission or your intention to attend.
Requesting an early letter can help you prepare your application in advance.
