We attended the webinar “Addressing UHC through Rare Diseases” co-organised by Rare Diseases International and EURORDIS on 11th December 2020…

The discussion included a lively exchange on the challenges and potential for Universal Health Coverage to support the rare disease movement. The webinar was attended by patient organisations across the Rare Diseases International network, community associations, the private sector, and philanthropic groups.

For a full recording of the webinar and all presentations, please visit the #UHC4RareDiseases Campaign

There is also a “Group of Friends of UHC”, a platform for Member States  to advance Universal Health Coverage within the UN system. The Group is  co-convened by Japan, Brazil, France, Ghana, Hungary, South Africa and Thailand. For a little background, please read the concept note on the Group of Friends of UHC.

The meeting also shared information on the High-level Meeting on UHC held at the United Nations on 23rd September 2019. There is a speaker list and meeting programme.

In 2021, RDI will continue the discussion on Univeral Health Coverage, and host events on other critical topics for stakeholders across rare diseases. Thank you to RDI for promoting this important subject.
